Coloring Webpage and the rules of design
Coloring Webpage is one of the most original kinds of artistic expression. Heading way back to the prehistoric times with the Lascaux Caves (a few of the first recorded human Coloring Site), Coloring Page is practiced in all cultures all over the world and has been for hundreds of years. To keep it simple, we’ll show off 19th and 20th hundred years expressions to show ways to place the elements and rules of design to work.
The principles of design are:
- Percentage and scale
- Repetition and pattern
- Unity and harmony
Balance is one of the most intuative and complicated design theory. It’s the way the designer creates a feeling of equilibrium in a design, by how the objects in the design are arranged. There are three major types of balance:
- Symmetrical/Formal Balance is when elements are positioned in such a way that two halves of the design (whether vertical or horizontal) are mirrors of each other – both attributes have the same weight. Its created around a central line that bisects the look into two different halves.
- Asymmetrical/Casual Balance is when elements are positioned so that there is an uneven distribution of weight
- Radial Balance is when elements sit evenly around a central point
Percentage and Scale
The juxtaposition of elements of different sizes, or proportions, inside a work of art helps create a sense of scale. Scale can be used for multiple results – whether to demonstrate a feeling of space and depth or even to help produce a dominant center point.
A huge part of creating depth within an image, and involvement in a piece, is by using multiple contrasting elements – or different elements set side by side. This is often done with color, form, size or surface.

Repetition and pattern
The use of the same or an identical element repeated again and again can give a work a sense of motion or framework. Where an aspect is similar enough and repeated often enough, it can create a routine.
Unity and harmony
The combination of similar elements creates an aesthetically pleasing overall result. While a lot of design elements are different, a prominent unity created by similarities in color, style, consistency or other elements makes the painting or design feel harmonious.
Translating to graphical design
Artist Bearbrick implements all of these ideas in his web design for Bright Austin Interiors.

Bearbrick uses percentage and scale to build asymmetrical balance. Elements of different size and condition are positioned on a page not to mirror one another but to balance one another out. He creates comparison in the juxtaposition of colorful elements against a white track record.
Repetition can be used in the placement of the circles. This causes the viewer’s eyesight to go between elements to be able to impart the info the client would like the viewers to see. At the same time, pattern is utilized as a subtle depth in this group designs (in the rose pattern of the “about us” button as well as the repeated lines circling other spherical elements) in order to generate interest – so that the design can be simple without having to be boring.
And while the different components of the web page find the user’s eyes at different times, the feminine style of the elements and the utilization of color make the website appear completely harmonious. The look has motion, depth, interest and brings the user’s eyes to the most crucial information on the webpage – it’s a great exemplory case of a successful design.
