Coloring Webpage and the guidelines of design
Coloring Webpage is one of the very most original varieties of artistic expression. Going way back to the prehistoric times with the Lascaux Caves (some of the first registered human Coloring Page), Coloring Webpage is practiced in every cultures all over the world and has been for more than 100 years. To keep it simple, we’ll show off 19th and 20th century expressions showing ways to put the elements and concepts of design to work.
The principles of design are:
- Proportion and scale
- Repetition and pattern
- Unity and harmony
Balance is one of the very most intuative and complicated design theory. It is the way the artist creates a sense of equilibrium in a design, by how the objects in the design are arranged. A couple of three major types of balance:
- Symmetrical/Formal Balance is when elements are positioned in such a way that two halves of the look (whether vertical or horizontal) are mirrors of the other person – both attributes have the same weight. Its created around a central range that bisects the design into two different halves.
- Asymmetrical/Casual Balance is when elements are positioned so that there is an uneven distribution of weight
- Radial Balance is when elements are positioned evenly around a central point
Proportion and Scale
The juxtaposition of components of different sizes, or proportions, within the work of art helps create a sense of scale. Level can be used for multiple effects – whether to show a sense of space and depth or to help generate a dominant focal point.
A huge part of creating depth within an image, and curiosity about a piece, is by using multiple contrasting elements – or different elements set hand and hand. This is finished with color, form, size or texture.

Repetition and pattern
The usage of the same or a similar element repeated over and over can provide a work a feeling of motion or structure. Where an aspect is comparable enough and repeated often enough, it can create a routine.
Unity and harmony
The combination of similar elements creates an visually pleasing overall impact. While tons of design elements will vary, a dominating unity created by commonalities in color, style, texture or other elements makes the painting or design feel harmonious.
Translating to graphical design
Artist Bearbrick implements many of these concepts in his web site design for Bright Austin Interiors.

Bearbrick uses proportion and scale to produce asymmetrical balance. Components of different size and condition sit on a full page never to mirror each other but to balance one another out. He creates comparison in the juxtaposition of brightly colored elements against a white history.
Repetition is employed in the positioning of the circles. This forces the viewer’s vision to move between elements to be able to impart the info the client needs the audience to see. At the same time, pattern is used as a subtle fine detail in this circle designs (in the rose design of the “about us” button as well as the repeated lines circling other rounded elements) to be able to set-up interest – so that the design can be simple without being boring.
And while the different elements of the page find the user’s eye at differing times, the feminine style of the elements and the utilization of color make the site appear altogether harmonious. The look has movements, depth, interest and brings the user’s sight to the main information on the page – from the great exemplory case of an effective design.
